Objectives

The Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) aims to strengthen democratic governance globally by empowering underrepresented groups—women and youth—to participate actively in political processes and decision-making. The program focuses on:

  1. Promoting Inclusive Governance
    • Supporting legal and policy frameworks that foster gender equality and youth participation in politics.
    • Strengthening democratic institutions to ensure diverse representation.
  2. Empowering Political Actors
    • Enhancing the capacities of women and youth within political parties to take on leadership roles.
    • Building the skills and confidence of young leaders and women to navigate political structures effectively.
  3. Fostering Transparent Political Systems
    • Supporting political parties in adopting inclusive, transparent, and accountable practices.
    • Encouraging cross-party collaboration to reduce polarization and promote shared democratic values.
  4. Encouraging Cross-Regional Collaboration
    • Creating platforms for sharing best practices and experiences across regions.
    • Supporting alliances among political actors, civil society, and institutional partners for broader impact.

Through advocacy, capacity-building, mentorship, and policy dialogue, WYDE contributes to the EU's commitment to human rights, democracy, and global equality.
