Joint analysis document completed in 2020 - next step: Joint Response and Team Europe Initiative
The first joint analysis for the Dominican Republic was carried out in 2020 by Team Europe in Santo Domingo: the EU and 5 EU Member States are present in the country (France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and Spain). The document particularly looks at the country´s commitments within the National Development Strategy (NDS) 2030 and other policy documents, as well as the challenges to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in order to identify how the EU and its MS can synchronise their efforts in key sectors and align their position around these challenges and advancements.
The analysis of Dominican reality has been done taking into consideration the 4 themes of the 2030 agenda, aligning to the formulation of the consensus, thus: Peace (including governance), Prosperity, People and Planet.
As a response to the COVID19 pandemics effects and crisis, the European Union and its member states have since April 2020 strongly promoted a “Team Europe” global response, aligning better in our response and also communicating together. - as seen in the 6 month #EquipoEuropa campaign in 2021.
Most recently and significantly, the Team Europe Initiative being developed by the EU Delegation, the EIB office and the EU member states present in the Dominican Republic have been a significant step forward in relation to joint programming, and will constitute a good basis for the future joint response.
