The joint programming document was validated early July 2020 by the EU, Member States, Switzerland and Norway after almost three years of work with the signature of a declaration of support.
Early 2021, Finland and the EIB officially joined the European joint programming in Mali.
With the European joint programming, an ecosystem has been put in place to promote joint work.
The response to COVID and the preparation of the TEIs have benefited greatly from this ecosystem.
The European joint programming aims to strengthen (1) a more coherent and strategic cooperation between the EU, its Member States and the other European partners and (2) joint positions and messages.
Starting from an analysis of the situation in the country, three main objectives were proposed:
- better functioning of the state
- sustainable economic growth
- development of human capital
It is expected that the European joint programming will lead to a better political dialogue with the government of Mali.
The joint programming document is the document of reference for European programming, to which the NDICI Global Europe programming for 2021-2027 is annexed, as well as a joint results framework which will allow for the follow-up of the implementation of joint programming and the TEIs.
