Circular Economy and Plastic Waste Management

Transformational Potential:

• Post-Covid economic recovery represents an opportunity to accelerate the transition to circular economy (plastic)
• EU to strengthen the inter-sectoral cooperation at department (ministry) level and as such to have a transformative and long-term impact on the country’s sustainable growth
• The proposed Initiative should be seen in the context of a larger multi-country effort to address the global and regional dimensions of plastic waste and marine litter

The Team Europe Proposal activities include:

• Nationally: Support activities for the development and implementation of an integrated framework for municipal and plastic waste management & Support to Policy Enforcement and introduction of EPR
• Regionally: Support bilateral and regional policy dialogues with relevant regional interlocutors responsible of the vast majority of land-based litter to the oceans
• Engage industry along the entire value chain
• Inclusivity & CSO’s
