GREAN DEAL SOMALIA: Climate Action through Clean Energy Initiatives and Climate-resilient Economy

Transformational potential:

• Climate mitigation: increase access to affordable, clean and reliable energy;
• Climate adaptation: enhance the climate-resilient economy through climate change adaptation actions and adoption of climate smart practices.

The Team Europe Proposal:

1. Pillar 1: Strengthened energy systems (affordable, clean and reliable energy):

• Regulatory framework & business environment, PSD and access to finance (EU, DK);
• Circular economy and waste management (EU, DK);
• Education / TVET on green skills (EU, DE, NL);
• Renewable energy pool - on-grid & off-grid solutions (EU, DK, SE);
• Capacity building at federal (FGS) and member states (FMS) levels (SE);
• Climate-change awareness & CSO (TBD).

2. Pillar 2: Enhanced climate-resilient economy (climate change adaptation actions and adoption of climate smart practices):

• Policies and strategies (EU, DK, IT, SE);
• Regulatory framework and digitalisation (EU, DK, IT, SE);
• Disaster risk reduction (EU, DE, IT, SE);
• Natural capital and biodiversity protection (EU, DE, IT, SE);
• Climate-smart agriculture, livestock and value chains (EU, DE, DK, IT, SE).
