The "Entrepreneurship and Business Development in Mesoamerica" (EDEM) project, co-financed by the European Union through the ADELANTE Programme, aimed to support entrepreneurs in developing and strengthening their business ideas and to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in enhancing their capacity for innovation. By facilitating the transfer of successful Colombian tools and methodologies to eight Mesoamerican countries, the initiative sought to foster economic growth, reduce inequalities, and eradicate poverty in the region. Through collaborative efforts among various chambers of commerce, governmental institutions, and regional organizations, the project emphasized knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the development of supportive entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Euroclima, as part of the Global Gateway strategy, builds partnerships between the European Union (EU) and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) regions to drive a green and just transition. Through bilateral dialogues and regional collaboration, the programme engages with 33 partner countries and key regional organisations to identify priorities and translate them into concrete actions, fostering long-term environmental and climate resilience. By creating the right conditions and supporting key initiatives in priority sectors, Euroclima helps establish a solid foundation for a sustainable transition. The programme also facilitates the mobilisation of climate and green financing, addressing urgent environmental challenges.

Local economic development in EU external actions refers to the European Union's efforts to support sustainable economic growth and job creation in partner countries and regions outside the EU. This approach focuses on empowering local communities, businesses, and institutions to drive their own economic development.

The iimpact of this action is to support the bi-regional association between the EU and Central America in accordance with the principles and objectives of the EU-CA Association Agreement, as well as with the EU-Panama bilateral cooperation and agenda. Focusing on common political priorities, including green and blue recovery, digitization, gender equality and the fight against inequalities.
