The Global Campus of Human Rights is to offer up to 10 tuition waivers and 4 full bursaries to eligible candidates applying to the 16th Summer School in Cinema, Human Rights and Advocacy taking place in Venice Lido, Italy, from 30 August to 8 September 2021.

Both typologies of scholarships apply to professionals and students whose field of expertise and research focuses on children rights and are, or wish to become, leaders in their community and worldwide to promote and protect the rights of the child through the connections between human rights, films, digital media and video advocacy. Furthermore, the full bursary applies to professionals, experts, scholars and community leaders from developing and low and middle-income countries.

The Summer School, a training initiative jointly developed by the Global Campus and Picture People, offers an exciting programme of lectures, film screenings, discussions, working groups and a storytelling workshop that combine human rights expertise, media studies and video advocacy strategies.
As part of the programme participants are required to watch and analyse a selection of human rights related screenings at the 78th Venice International Film Festival. Whenever possible, filmmakers, jury members and critics are invited to discuss their work with the Summer School participants. Participants will be given a Cinema category accreditation pass to the Film Festival giving access to a selection of festival screenings.
