Support Team - SPHIP in the Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Liverpool
Discussion details
The Fifth Global Symposium on Health Systems Research: Advancing Health Systems For All In the SDG Era will take place from 8 – 12 October 2018 in Liverpool. (http://healthsystemsresearch.org/hsr2018/)
The SPHIP has submitted two proposals for satellite sessions that have been approved by the scientific committee. SPHIP projects will send delegates, who also will have presentations and posters during the symposium. There will be many topics to share from the eight SPHIP projects, that will enrich the health systems research community.
SPHIP will organise two satellite sessions:
The first session is titled: Giving Communities a Voice with Research Evidence
SPHIP projects will show that research institutes can give a voice to communicating the health needs of communities by performing participatory research, engaging in dialogue with communities, and translating the research outcomes into clear policy advice for governments.
Several presenters will discuss how intense interactions with interest groups can improve research, and make evidence broadly available. Researcher can help to give a voice to communities to stand up for their interests. In this way research institutes can contribute to policy development that is more geared towards the needs of vulnerable groups.
The second session is titled: Triangular Learning for strengthening Universal Health Coverage
Research institutes from eight low- and lower middle- income countries show how they work together in networks with universities and non-governmental organisations from Europe as well as neighbouring low- and lower middle- income countries. This leads to innovative approaches in capacity building for policy development and implementation to strengthen Universal Health Coverage.
Several presenters will share lessons learned from triangular learning in Laos, Myanmar and Haiti and other countries, aiming to strengthen Universal Health Coverage. By bringing to the country experiences from other (neighbouring) countries in similar circumstances, better policy advice, improved training, and institutional strengthening can be achieved.
The SPHIP satellite sessions are open for all symposium delegates, and the organisers welcome contributions from other organisations in similar research activities. Please contact the SPHIP team via the contact mail address.
