Event details
Description
On February 16 2022 at 2pm CET, GWP, UNECE, University of Northumbria and Wuhan International Water Law Academy will be co-organizing an interactive online session on the “Design of Transboundary Water Agreements”. This session is a continuation of the Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train as part of the MOOC on Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security. The aim of this interactive online session will be to explore the importance of design in the development and implementation of agreements and other arrangements on transboundary waters, with a focus on the Practical Guide for the Development of Agreements or Other Arrangements for Transboundary Water Cooperation. An expert drafting Group has developed the Practical Guide within the framework of the 1992 Water Convention. It is not legally binding and does not supersede the provisions of the Convention.
The online session will explore whether there are certain key ingredients that should structure these agreements and other arrangements. The session will be interactive, allowing you to put your questions to the panelists and directly interact with the speakers in breakout rooms. French interpretation will be provided for the whole event, and we also recommend French speakers to take a look at the French version of the MOOC on CapNet virtual campus.
