The Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, together with the forthcoming Belgian Presidency and the European Commission would like to invite you to a webinar on gender equality in the context of sustainable development.
It will be opened by the High Representative-Vice President Josep Borrell (tbc), European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, Belgium Minister of Development Cooperation, Caroline Gennez, and Spain Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Pilar Cancela.
The EU is a strong actor in the pursuit of gender equality across the world. In this context, the Spanish and Belgian Presidencies have included gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls among their priorities for international cooperation, working alongside the EU institutions to keep it at the top of the EU external action.
The Spanish EU Presidency has specifically dived into the policy and economy of care and will put forward some guidance on how to effectively address this issue. The forthcoming Belgian EU Presidency will focus on will focus on equal access to health as a human right while upholding sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), both aiming to make a long-lasting and beneficial contribution to gender equality.

This will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with key civil society representatives, EU Member States, UN Women and other stakeholders.
