URBAN OCTOBER at GIZ
GIZ - Global Section Cities
Event details
Description
Dear Partners and Urbanistas,
Cities are the key to sustainable development: more than half of the world's population already lives in cities and even more will do so in the future. The role of cities as the main habitat of future generations stresses the importance of building cities that are sustainable, resilient, and liveable, making urbanisation one of the most important dynamics of our time. Especially current crises such as climate change and the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine show the importance of resilient urban infrastructure and access to basic services.
The URBAN OCTOBER 2023 has begun! Launched by UN-Habitat, the event month aims to raise awareness of the relevance of sustainable urban development and show that cities are central to achieving international agendas. Therefore, every October, UN-Habitat and its partners organise a month of activities, events, and discussions on urban sustainability.
GIZ is part of the Urban October 2023 and from September 27th until October 31st, 2023, we are hosting events about urban challenges including climate adaptation and innovative solutions such as the implementation of NbS by GIZ colleagues and partners. Join us for our diverse programme with a total of 39 events: Event Programme | City Transitions global (city-transitions.global).
We are looking forward to meeting many of you in virtual rooms and events, but also in person!
