Disability and Development Network

DEVCO B3, in collaboration with the European Disability Forum (EDF), organized on the 21^st of November a one-day training workshop for Delegation and Headquarters staff on the promotion of the human rights and social inclusion of persons with disabilities in EU external action and development cooperation.

The training was delivered by Alexandre Cote, Capacity Development Specialist from the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and counted with the participation of 20 colleagues, mostly from EU Delegations and Headquarters services.

The workshop covered areas such as the situation of persons with disabilities in developing countries; the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and challenges for its implementation; the EU’s commitments and action; the importance of the involvement of Disabled Persons Organisations; and tools and operational measures to ensure that the concerns of persons with disabilities are included in our work.
