Description
This private group provides a meeting place for the TED Network members to engage in lively discussions and knowledge sharing related to the thematic priorities of the Team Europe Democracy Initiative (TED), which is a global thematic Team Europe Initiative to promote democracy and human rights worldwide.
The TED Network (TEDN) is one key output of the Team Europe Democracy initiative. It is an interface mechanism between the EU institutions and EU Member States (MS) and like-minded European organisations and networks sharing democratic values, seeking to engage with each other on the latest evidence on democracy promotion, and to improve joint programming and Team Europe approaches.
The TED Network responds to the needs for enhanced communication and synergies among European actors following the commitments of the EU and its Member States to strengthen impact of their interventions through evidence-based approaches and coordination.
It aims at increasing the impact of democracy support interventions at global, regional, national and local levels. The expected added value of the TED Network is to offer a space to key stakeholders and practitioners to share lessons learned and strengthen evidence-based policy dialogue and formulation as well as support joint collaborations to increase impact of their interventions. Therefore, EU and MS shall come into dialogue with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), including non-governmental organisations (NGOs), think tanks, research centres and universities beyond donors-beneficiaries' relationships.
The priority themes for the TED Network are: (i) Accountability and Rule of Law, (ii) Political and Civic Participation, and (iii) Media and Digitalisation.
The TED Network will facilitate exchanging information, engaging in strategic dialogue, enhancing cross-regional collaboration on projects through sharing of best practices, and supporting joint initiatives on the thematic priorities. It serves as a mechanism to leverage the strengths of single organisations through improved coordination.
The TED Secretariat will supply the necessary information for coordination as well as policy-relevant knowledge to the Network. Members of the Network will engage with information on democracy support actions and research, access meetings, dialogues and workshops on democracy support.
