Africa and Cryptocurrencies Factsheets on migrants’ remittances: key issues and opportunities
Objective
The webinar aims at providing participants with deeper knowledge about African remittances and separately about Crypto-currencies in the remittances context, emerging trends and main obstacles/key solutions in these areas. It will look at potential actions to maximize on trends in these areas.
Content
This webinar will present and discuss the factsheets developed by DG INTPA HQ and relevant African EUDELs about the following topics:
- The African remittances landscape, including: pricing, the importance of remittances, recent trends, the challenges and how to overcome them, with particular focus to the cost from the EU;
- Crypto-currencies: an introduction to crypto-currencies and how they might influence remittances, global actions to address them, the EU response, the benefits and potential drawbacks; case studies;
- Impact on EC- INTPA work;
- Policy options and recommendations. Two case studies per factsheet area will be presented.
Target audience
This webinar event is intended for INTPA staff in delegations and at HQs. It is also open to colleagues from NEAR, TRADE, ECHO, FPI and from the EEAS upon seats availability. A limited number of places are available for government officials from partner countries and from EU Member States development agencies.
