Sustainable Agriculture - the competency-based management of smallholder farming systems

The training addresses the need of advisers and experts involved in rural development and natural resource management with the intention to better understand agro-pastoral livelihood systems as an integral part of a holistic approach to food and nutritional security.

The training will focus on the following

• Changing ideas and current concerns about sustainable agricultural development in the context of climate changes.
• Maintenance of soil fertility and biodiversity in the context of sanitary challenges and plant protection
• Rural livelihoods, labour conditions and socio-economic requirements
• water-economy and water management
• Animal husbandary, manure and fodder-production
• Energy demands and supply systems for energy-efficient agricultural production
