Towards Caring Cities
π This report outlines examples of urban good governance from 16 case studies including Botang (Indonesia), Gwabgju (Korea) or Salvador (Brazil). It highlights initiatives aimed at promoting the well-being of individuals, communities, and the environment across areas such as medical care, lifelong learning opportunities, public spaces and violence prevention.
πThe caring cities have built partnerships including with foundation and the private sector to support their efforts. For example, in Palmira (Colombia), collaboration has focused on violence reduction, while in Tharaka Nithi (Kenya), a holistic approach to participatory governance has improved access to public spaces, decent work for mothers, childcare services, childcare training. This kind of holistic approach must be embedded into integrated public policy and championed by strong leadership with a long-term vision for future generations
