Description
The EU's Triangular Cooperation programme, ADELANTE, emerged from the EU’s commitment to promote horizontal, flexible, and innovative modalities of cooperation. The programme was launched in 2015 as the EU's flagship programme for triangular cooperation with the LAC region.
During the first phase (2016-2020), ADELANTE co-financed eight triangular projects involving 93 organisations from 22 European and LAC countries. More info here: ADELANTE | Capacity4dev
In 2021, building on lessons learned, the EU launched ADELANTE 2, which has three components:
- Operational support - to support triangular cooperation initiatives through the “ADELANTE Triangular Cooperation Window”. More info on these triangular cooperation initiatives here Library | Capacity4dev
- Analytical support - to promote studies and analysis about triangular cooperation, its added value and impact. Component implemented in partnership with the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).
- Institutional support - to facilitate cost-shared “Triangular Cooperation Funds” with specific LAC and European partners (Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Uruguay).
The ADELANTE 2 (2021-2027) has a budget of around EUR 20 million (EUR 15 million as EU’s contribution and EUR 5 million from partners).
