Results from FAO-EU FLEGT Programme Experience Capitalization

The FAO-EU Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Programme is a global, demand-driven initiative that provides technical support and resources for activities that further the goals of the EU’s FLEGT Action Plan. The Programme aims to tackle illegal logging, promote trade in legal timber products and ultimately contribute to sustainable forest management and poverty reduction. With a global scope, the FAO-EU FLEGT Programme has endorsed over 370 projects in 26 timber-producing countries.

These projects have contributed to an extensive knowledge base of lessons learned and best practices that can be drawn on by other projects and programmes seeking to improve forest governance and achieve broader sustainable development goals. As such, the Programme carried out an extensive experience capitalization exercise to collect, analyse, and share experiences, good practices, and lessons learned during the implementation of the third phase of the Programme.
