Description
DiversiNEET is KA2 Strategic Partnership exchange of good practies in the field of Youth lead by Asociación PROJUVEN. The other 2 leading partners are GUS Italia and Antigone.
Background by September 2016, Europe has experienced over 1.1 million refugees, displaced persons and other migrants escaping from serious threats in their country or in search of better lives. At the same time, there is a historical high level of NEETs in Europe; youth aged 15-29 and Not in Employment, Education or Training. Many migrants are young men competing for jobs in line with the already existing European NEETs. Consequently, the presence of people from other cultures in the labour market has been increased, but no progress has been made in the design and implementation of specific policies for managing diversity and the promotion of intercultural dialogue inside European society or places of work such as enterprises. It is clear that the European governments consider more and more the diversity as an element to manage in their society but also as an element of instability, so they need the help of no-profit organizations to integrate young migrants differences in order to avoid extremism and dangerous radicalization in their society, due to the surge of a possible “war of poors” amongst European NEETs and migrants NEETs. The general aim of our project is to raise the quality of youth workers training tools to manage the cultural diversity amongst European NEETs and Migrant NEETs via exchange of good practices between the network of strategic partners.
Concrete objectives are:
- Identifying and understanding the culture diversity in Europe and in the partners countries.
- To develop structures and methods to prevent young refugees not being NEETs.
-To experiment with new ways of e-guidance and chat services for young people.
- To raise the awareness of the importance of cultural and linguistic diversity within Europe.
- To respect and value to contribution that immigrant populations give to any organization.
- To make participants more aware of opportunities under Erasmus+ to support their work with young people in this context.
- To raise the quality of Erasmus + projects in the field of culture diversity inside and outside partner network.
- Exchange good practices in local and international youth work between partners to raise the quality of youth work and activities.
- To build up a solid network of partners to organize youth projects which are inclusive, support participation of young people with fewer opportunities and refugees background and take into account human rights and democratic values. In the trainings we will include moderators and trainers who are familiar with non-formal learning methods and can also provide some input. We will use methods such as discussions, analyses, role-plays, group building exercises, creative tools, study visits, activities with local communities etc. We want that our activities are an example of non-formal learning in international context, and besides providing space to share and learn from each other and gain new competences, we want to make our activities/mobilities as a good example, from which to learn also. This project will allow the development of tools to youth workers and trainers for managing diversity and support it effectively and ensure a better integration of working people from other cultures in each participating country. The partnership will consist of three organisations from three countries, representing youth organization and organization assisting young refugees and European NEETs in countries with high refugee numbers and high level of youth unemployment and so with a big issue regarding cultural diversity.
A variety of methods will be used to accomplish the project; desktop research, qualitative surveys, data collection from national statistics and Eurostat, phone interviews with representatives from identified best practices, qualitative and comparative analysis, system development, experimentation and partner consultation, curriculum and assessment development, documentation and reporting. The tangible results of the project will be a report with the social, politic, legal, and cultural context of each partner country, a training product in e-learning format about managing of diversity, and specifically of the cultural diversity, adapted to the legal, cultural and linguistic context of each participant country, and training supports on diversity management adapted to each country. Other products such as internal partnership reports, dissemination material and evaluation reports were developed throughout the project.
