The EHMA Annual Conference in Portugal from 14 to 16 June 2016
Hosted by University of Porto, the 2016 European Health Management Association (EHMA) Annual Conference will be heldin Porto, Portugal from 14 to 16 June 2016. The conference theme is “New Models of Care. Reinventing healthcare: why, what, how”. The EHMA Annual Conference is an international knowledge sharing event. The EHMA 2016 Annual Conference is expected to bring together policy makers, health managers, health professionals, educators and heads of research programmes.
From Bangladesh, Dr. ATM Iqbal Anwar, Scientist and Project Director, Universal Health Coverage, icddr,b, Mr. Muhammad Masud Parvez, Analyst Programmer, Universal Health Coverage, icddr,b and Dr. Mohammad Adnan Khan, Assistant Chief, MIS, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will be attending the EHMA Annual Conference in Portugal. As Plenary speaker from European Union’s Strengthening Public Health Institute (SPHIP) programme, Dr. Iqbal Anwar will deliver his speech on ‘Disruptive innovations in health information system’. As an invited speaker, Mr. Parvezwill deliver his speech on ‘Health management information system: data for decision-making’.
With the aim of health systems improvement in Bangladesh, the European Union supported SHARE (Strengthening Health, Applying Research Evidence) project as part of SPHIP is building the capacity of public health managers and service providers to promote the routine use of Management Information systems (MIS) data using the DHIS2 platform.
In collaboration with DGHS, UNICEF and GIZ, SHARE project has spearheaded these capacity building programmes from icddr,b to increase efficiency of district health managers and statistician on creating their own Dashboard in the DHIS2 with charts, pivot tables and GIS maps to monitor progress of health programmes and strengthen local health planning. icddr,b and other development partners have joined hands for supporting DGHS to generate flawless health data from different tiers of health facilities throughthis capacity building programmewhich will contribute in transforming data into evidence informed health policy making.Reliable health data is directly linked with people’s health care.EHMA 2016 Annual Conference is an opportunity for Bangladesh to showcase its success in health data management which is expected to create desired accountability and transparency in the performance of health sector.
