Decades of international donor support to the transport sector in Chad have targeted the national transport network, but the government remains dependent on external technical assistance.
Public transportation systems could remedy many of the problems faced by major cities in developing countries. But is there a one-size-fits-all solution to implementing them?

Good governance in transport is critical to sustain the development of the sector, writes Jean- Noël Guillossou of the Africa Transport Policy Programme (SSATP), hosted by the World Bank. Guillossou is Programme Manager of the EU-funded, 38 country SSATP, and shares key lessons learned from implementing this project.
