Seminar on EU External Action: Fragility, Security and Development in a Changing World

The European Commission/DG DEVCO EuropeAid, – Fragility and Resilience Unit and the European External Action Service /European Security and Defence College jointly organised the 5^th edition of the seminar "EU External Action: Fragility, Security and Development in a Changing World”, in Brussels, from 27^th to 29^th of April 2016.

The seminar was based on the link between security and development as key underlying principle of the EU's comprehensive approach to external conflicts and crises. This security-development nexus is central to maximising the effectiveness of the EU's external action in fragile and conflict-affected countries.

The course brought together participants with different professional backgrounds and facilitated constructive and interactive exchanges of opinions, expertise and lessons learnt from the ground.

During this highly inter-active seminar, participants developed a better understanding of the institutional set-up of the EU and the relevant instruments and operating procedures.
