Video: Take a Tour of the EU Mobile Lab in Guéckédou, Guinea

Earlier this year, colleagues working at the EU Mobile Lab in Guéckédou, Guinea made a short film representing a typical day working in the lab. Each team stays in the field for four weeks, but they work long hours, processing 50-80 samples per day from morning until late at night. A typical day will start at 8am, with staff returning to their hotel at 10 or 11pm. Despite the stressful environment some colleagues will visit the field more than once.

The team that appears in the video was made up of six colleagues from the Robert-Koch-Institute in GermanyINMI Spallanzani in ItalyLaboratoire P4 Inserm Jean Merieux in France, Public Health EnglandInstitute for Virology Philipps-University Marburg in Germany, and the World Health Organisation.
