Description
Latin American and Caribbean countries often face challenges in evaluating public policies, leading to inefficiencies and limited effectiveness in governance. The EVALÚA project addresses these issues by:
- Promoting the institutionalization of public policy evaluation to enhance decision-making processes.
- Strengthening the capacities of public administrations to conduct thorough and effective policy evaluations.
Encouraging the use of evaluation outcomes to inform policy improvements, thereby contributing to more equitable and sustainable societies.
EVALÚA's Objective: Institutionalizing public policy evaluation to allow informed and effective decision-making and to contribute to a more equal and sustainable society.
To achieve its objectives, EVALÚA implemented several key activities:
- Capacity Building and Training: Conducted workshops and training sessions for public officials on advanced evaluation methodologies, enhancing their ability to assess and improve public policies.
- Peer Reviews: Facilitated peer review processes among partner institutions to share best practices and lessons learned in policy evaluation.
- Evaluation of Specific Policies: Supported evaluations of targeted public policies, such as the "2016-2019 Action Plan for a Life Free of Gender Violence with a Generational Perspective" in Uruguay, to assess their effectiveness and impact.
- Knowledge Sharing: Established a Knowledge Bank to disseminate evaluation reports, methodologies, and tools, fostering a culture of continuous learning among public administrations.
