OUTPUT 15: Strengthened financial ecosystem actors’ capacities to enable sustainable water / sanitation investments
Finance for water initiatives secured through application of derisking measures and guarantees
(Euro)
Data Source:

EU intervention monitoring and reporting systems (Progress and final reports for the EU-funded intervention)

Additional Information

The entities and sources which provide finance (and expertise) for water initiatives ought to be expanded during the 2021-2027 programming period via NDICI-Global Europe. As a result finance should be secured beyond the traditional Development Finance Institutions, and include: Funds-Foundations; Corporations; Commercial Banks; Operators-Contractors.

Additional Information

Number of supported financial ecosystem actors who offer for the first time risk-mitigated, innovative, and impactful financing mechanisms and products (for entrepreneurship, MSMEs/ social enterprises, and cooperatives), disaggregated by type of actor (commercial banks, microfinance institutions, insurance/reinsurance companies, leasing companies, investment funds, financial technology companies, venture capital funds, disaggregating also traditional from sustainability-related financial intermediaries), by type of product/service (risk-mitigation, equity, risk capital, debt instruments, mezzanine, sustainability-related/linked), by served area/sector as relevant.

Number of Financial Ecosystem Actors (FEAs) supported, disaggregated by type of product (traditional vs sustainability-related) provided to them (EFSD+ 10.34)
(Number of)
Data Source:

Database of beneficiaries/participants

Additional Information

Number of financial ecosystem actors trained / coached / other capacity development related support, disaggregated by type of actor (commercial banks, microfinance institutions, insurance/reinsurance companies, leasing companies, investment funds, financial technology companies, venture capital funds, disaggregating also traditional from sustainability-related financial intermediaries), by type of strengthening (risk-mitigation/sharing, innovative, green, inclusive, impactful, sustainability-related/linked instruments and practices), by served area/sector as relevant.

OUTPUT 21: Improved monitoring systems for measurement of water quantity, quality and use
Number of water and sanitation stakeholders staff trained by the EU-funded intervention with increased knowledge and/or skills on water information systems, disaggregated by sex
(Number of)
Data Source:

Database of training participants

 pre- and post-training tests

Additional Information

Please specify training topics and target participants as much as possible. If monitoring capacity is limited or the context is fragile, this indicator could be simplified to monitor only the number of persons trained (without referring to an increase in knowledge and/or skills). However, in order to ensure the quality of training and the achievement of the desired result, it is recommended to assess the knowledge of participants before and after the intervention whenever possible.

Number of Water Information Systems (WIS) installed, including hydrometeorological data gathering and sharing, to monitor real-time water quality and flows
(Number of)
Data Source:

EU intervention monitoring and reporting systems (Progress and final reports for the EU-funded intervention)

Additional Information

WIS provides an evidence base for water management in agriculture, industry, business, public institutions, and water operators/utilities. Furthermore, it can be considered a vital component of DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction), including emergency response strategies. WIS can inform evidence-based climate adaptation measures. Initial steps to develop WIS can include installing monitoring stations at existing water supply and wastewater treatment facilities.

Progress reports for the EU-funded intervention

Reports published by the EU-funded intervention

Additional Information

Based on the Rio markers and the aid to environment policy marker that pre-dates the Rio Markers. These markers are used as part of the reporting to the Creditor Reporting System (CRS) database of OECD's Development Aid Committee (DAC).

OUTPUT 19: Increased availability of facilities and systems for resource recovery, energy efficiency and renewable energy generation
Number of water and sanitation stakeholders staff trained by the EU-funded intervention with increased knowledge and/or skills on resource recovery, energy efficiency and renewable energy generation, disaggregated by sex
(Number of)
Data Source:

Database of training participants

 pre- and post-training tests
