The first regional Joint Programming workshop for Latin America was a success. Co-organised with Spain and hosted in AECID’s training center in La Antigua (Guatemala), the key objective of the seminar was to allow a frank discussion with practitioners close to where joint programming is happening – at partner country level.
50+ colleagues (at Heads of Cooperation level) from EU Delegations in seven Latin American countries and Haiti and eight Member States + Switzerland attended the two-day interactive workshop.
Some highlights:
- Good progress on Joint Programming in Guatemala and Bolivia.
- Cross-cutting topics in breakout groups, identifying some answers to most recurrent questions
- Each 'country teams' (EU HoC + MS) came up with clear, time-bound commitments on the way they want to take joint programming forward in their countries
- Results into the future joint programming work. In-country work on results needs to be adapted and build on existing expertise; see break-out group work on results.
