Overall objectives

Access to Water and Sanitation is one of the indicators of the Regional and Rural Development. The overall objective of this sector is to support Government efforts in the diversification of the economy while promoting a balanced and inclusive growth, decrease regional disparities and improve rural livelihoods.

Country Context

As other economic sectors, the agricultural sector and the related processing industries have suffered from adverse consequences of privatization in the post-Soviet period. While these structural problems prevail, due to its climatic and geographic advantages, the agriculture sector has significant potential for expansion and for contributing to the diversification of the economy.
