Webinar recording: Public Data Tools and Data Sources

Based on the European Consensus on Development and the Busan Partnership, aid transparency is a key policy priority of the EU and its Member States (MS). It is instrumental for accountability and for informed decision-making.

There is a need among EU staff to get better acquainted with existing public data tools and data sources to make better use of them in their work.

  • In 2019 DEVCO launched the EU Aid Explorer, a public internet platform demonstrating combined aid flows of the EU institutions and Member States.
  • The two main international data sources of the EU Aid Explorer are the OECD statistics of the Development Assistance Committee DAC and the open data published in the data management tool of the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI). The Commission, the EIB and 20 MS report to OECD-DAC, whereas the Commission, the EIB and 14 MS publish in IATI among more than 1000 other organisations.
  • Total Official Support for Sustainable Development (TOSSD) is a newly developed standard which captures development flows beyond traditional Official Development Assistance.

This series of webinars aims at increasing the capacity of INTPA staff in using relevant public data tools and data sources in their policy and programming work. The recordings are made available for sharing knowledge and promoting access to a wide range of relevant EU staff and partners. This series of webinars provides an overview of OECD-DAC and IATI data sources, as well as EU Aid Explorer platform and TOSSD standard.

The recording is available on INTPA academy.  You can access them through this LINK.
