Carla Cannone works at the intersection of capacity development, knowledge sharing, and international cooperation, with a focus on supporting clean and just energy transitions in low- and middle-income countries. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Energy Engineering, a double Master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Systems, and a PhD in Geography and Environment. In her current role, she works in the UN as a Liaison Officer between the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office-funded Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme.
Her work centres on strengthening institutional and individual capacities through practical training, open-access learning resources, and collaboration with governments, universities, international organisations, and research partners across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia. She has contributed to the design and delivery of international workshops, online courses, and structured learning pathways that help translate technical knowledge into usable tools, locally relevant practice, and more informed decision-making.
She has also supported capacity-building and e-learning initiatives as a short-term consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Her approach is grounded in local ownership, continuity beyond one-off interventions, and the sharing of experience in ways that support more effective, transparent, and partnership-based development cooperation.
