  • Joint WHO/FAO Guidelines on Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) have been released in April 2016. FAO has subsequently received a request from SAPReF Secretariat for financial and technical support for its member states to deploy strategies to reduce HHPs risks. In response, FAO and the Rotterdam Convention jointly organised the 5-day workshop in Johannesburg in April, which included training sessions on the protocol for identification of HHPs, on field surveys to assess actual conditions of use of HHPs and to develop national risk reduction plans.Available at: www.fao.org/3/a-i5566e.pdf
  • The web-based Pesticide Registration Toolkit, which intends to provide access to pesticides registrars in developing countries with the technical approaches relevant to the elements of evaluation that are required in pesticide registration, and to tools and data sources that support the agreed approaches. The Toolkit is operational since March 2016 and can be found at: www.fao.org/pesticide-registration-toolkit
  • Technical Guidance Document on “Mainstreaming ecosystem services and biodiversity into agricultural production and management in East Africa” was produced in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). It is available at: www.fao.org/3/a-i5603e.pdf).
