Introduction to the 4th generation of EU Roadmaps for engagement with civil society organisations in external relations, for the period 2025 - 2027.
Description
In this forum, we explore the intricate fabric of European Union interactions and engagement with civil society. Our mission? To foster meaningful exchanges, enhance collaboration, and chart the course toward effective engagement with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), particularly local CSOs in partner countries.
The European Union wholeheartedly acknowledges the vital role that civil society plays in shaping governance and development. From grassroots movements to umbrella organisations, from women and youth groups to tanks and advocacy organisations, from indigenous groups to private sector associations, from consumers associations to trade unions, civil society brings a rich tapestry of perspectives and contributions.
The 'EU Civil Society Roadmaps' have been paramount in implementing and adapting EU strategy towards civil society in neighbouring and partner countries, serving as compasses, while connecting the EU and civil society around shared goals. Through dialogue, collaboration, and partnership, the EU and civil society weave a fabric of democracy, human rights and social inclusion. The CS Roadmaps should also increasingly contribute to ensuring that the implementation of the Global Gateway Strategy is value-based and benefits local communities.
