Fighting undernutrition and stunting
0
Fighting undernutrition and stunting refers to the promotion of more nutritious food, investing more on animal proteins, such as from fisheries, aquaculture and livestock, and on agricultural diversification to ensure diet diversification, notably for women and children. In this specific area, the EU aims to reduce stunting in 7 million children by 2025 and it has allocated €3.5 billion over 2014-2020 to reach this ambitious goal. The main issues to be addressed within this area are: nutrition governance and political commitments (improvement of national legal frameworks on food fortification), diversification of food consumption, strengthening knowledge and accountability in nutrition through information platforms.
