Description
This group welcomes anyone working on solid waste management within an urban context to contribute to discussions and share knowledge and resources with other experts and practitioners in the field. The Urban Solutions: Solid Waste Management public group is part of the Urban Development Network.
Key topics of the group:
This group will focus on solid waste management in Africa, Asian, and Latin America. In these regions, SWM mainly aims at improving basic services and at avoiding and reducing waste in order to approach a circular economy. We want to bring together experiences from different countries and projects that showcase improved and integrated SWM to provide examples for how the circular economy can be implemented in countries with varying levels of economic development.
What can you expect from this group?
This group will discuss the implementation of a circular economy approach in countries all over the world and develop strategies for improving the institutional, financial, and technical situation of SWM. The goal is to improve the collection efficiency of waste, elevate its financial sustainabilitly, and implement 3R measures in different regions. Experiences and lessons learned can be shared and case studies discussed, while also thinking of the role that the private sector can play in SWM.
