My name is Ocen Emmanuel and I am a Ugandan National, with educational training in the field of Agriculture and Natural resource management at Makerere University Kampala-Uganda and University of Twente-Netherlands. I have a robust economic and agribusiness development programme experience and expertise in brokering partnerships for inclusive business investments & growth and management, and market systems development. I have dedicated myself to the cause of promoting socio economic development, especially among the smallholder farmers, youth, women, refugees and the marginalize groups in the society.
Over the past decade, my career path has led me to diverse roles in agribusiness and private sector development projects both within Uganda, Tanzania and Now South Sudan. I had the privilege working with reputable Organizations such as, MercyCorps, Cooperative League of United States of America (NCBA/CLUSA), International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC), Palladium, AVSI Foundation, DAI Global and currently at Stichting Spark as Ag. Country Manager and Team Leader, piloting Market System Development program in a Fragile Conflict Affected Situation of South.
What sets me apart is my unwavering passion for private sector-led socioeconomic interventions. I enjoy working closely with private sector stakeholders and Social Impact Investors, devising strategies to reach non-consumers and thereby catalysing meaningful socioeconomic transformation. My specialized skills and expertise encompass:
1. Programs and strategy development, crafting innovative programs and strategies to achieve sustainable outcomes
2. Market Systems Development, built on market systems analysis, private sector engagement and market facilitation for improved market system operation efficiency and effectiveness in delivering products and services to consumers
3. Monitoring and evaluation focusing on outcome reporting and traceability
4. Mapping and monitoring of natural resources using GIS and remote sensing; project planning and management; natural resources management, ecosystem services, and environmental impact assessments; cycles of essential nutrients; landscape ecology; agricultural land use; and farm system planning and management
Outside work, I enjoy socializing with teams, playing football, valley ball and reading books. I find that these activities to not only bring joy into my life but also help me to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
