Our dignity – Developing a shared vision consistent with universal and fundamental rights
Human rights and defending principles of human dignity are embedded in the EU’s identity and they are key in all EU external actions. The European Commission’s report, “A Decent Life for All” states that ‘the objectives of human well-being and dignity for all are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Millennium Declaration’. This concept includes securing a decent livelihood, health and education for every human being as well as the need to fight inequality. Since EDD15 is a strategic opportunity to present the EU’s priorities for future SDGs, this theme will stress the importance of human rights and dignity as core development values.
There are three topics within this theme:
- Gender rights
- Right to health
- Inclusion and inequality
