Our future – Each of our policies can make a difference
The European Union is sometimes criticised for giving with one hand and taking with the other. The Juncker Commission aims to address this perception through a more ‘political’ Commission with ambitious and clearly defined priorities. In line with the third objective of the European Year for Development and the political guidelines of the Juncker Commission, there is a strong case for making policy coherence for development a reality. Development cannot be addressed without dialogue about how to create a fairer and more inclusive global economy. Coherent development policies including all branches of the European Union’s external action and domestic policies is crucial to address the root causes of poverty and inequality.
