Social Media Workshop

Purpose of the Social Media Workshop was capacity building for GERIS Network members, both civil society and journalists, to develop their social media skills and techniques for effective communication. The workshop was delivered in an online format, due to the strengthening of Covid19 restrictions around the world at the time. The workshop was a combination of the following topics: social media strategy foundations tailored for civil society; introduction to social media tools; responsible use of social media; time management and efficiency.

This workshop enabled GERIS Networks participants to engage on social media platforms and share insights about the project themes from conversations in closed groups.   The workshop was delivered online, from 25 to 29 October 2021 by our trainer and highly experienced social media communicator in the context of international development, Yvonne Rarieya.

The skills will also be used for greater dissemination of positive experiences of coexistence among people of different faiths and none, in contribution to GERIS overall project objective. The workshops built participants’ skills and confidence to engage on social media platforms, better communicate amongst themselves, and develop relevant micro-projects primarily aimed at engagement in the policy processes and local communication campaigns. Attending the training has been essential for developing group cohesion, building trust among the participants and for increased visibility of the global exchange.
