News Story: Servicification Workshop in Lilongwe, Malawi 2 September 2016

A sensitization workshop on Services Trade and the Concept of "Servification" in Industrial Development was held on Friday 2 September at the Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe, Malawi and funded by the Hub & Spokes II Programme.

The session was opened by the Director of Trade, Ministry of Trade and Industry.The objectives of the workshop were presented by the Malawi National Trade Adviser, Mr Isaac B Gokah. The specific objectives were to shed light on the concept of "servification", establish the role of "servification" in industrial development, the role of services in global and regional value chains, and policy lessons from successful integration into value chains and for sustainable growth and development.

The workshop was attended by 45 participants, of which 13 were women. This included 24 government institution representatives and 21 representatives from the private sector.
