It has been identified that one of the major challenges of Nigeria’s exports trade is that test results of products exported from Nigeria are not accepted internationally due, in part, to the lack of accreditation of most of the laboratories and also inconsistent production processes (especially in the area of food production) resulting in product being rejected at destination ports. Therefore, in order to perform the functions assigned to the Standards Organisation of Nigeria by the law it is essential to strengthen the capacity of the testing laboratories of SON in the areas of: i) Methods validation; ii) Uncertainly calculation, iii) Sample preparation. The project was commissioned in Nigeria with the objective of developing capacity in key areas related to growing the export potential of the economy. |

The first mission took place in November 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria. During the mission two training courses were organised. The courses delivered:
As part of the mission an interactive workshop in the development of codes of practice supporting key agricultural industries in the country was held. Some of the workshop time was spent on training the standards writers on how to write standards and codes of practice. |
