Urban Mobility

Description

Urban mobility refers to the movement of people and goods within urban areas, encompassing various modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, public transit, and private vehicles. It involves the planning, management, and provision of transportation services and infrastructure to ensure efficient, safe, and sustainable mobility for urban residents.

As part of the Global Gateway initiative, the UDTF can leverage its expertise in urban mobility to help DG INTPA strengthen strategic partnerships with countries around the world. By focusing on urban mobility as a key component of sustainable and inclusive development, DG INTPA can contribute to the goals of the Global Gateway initiative by fostering economic growth, job creation, and resilience in partner countries.

Transportation accounts for a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions in urban areas, making sustainable mobility solutions essential. INTPA urban mobility interventions should be aligned with the goals of the Green Deal by supporting partner countries in implementing low-carbon transportation solutions, such as promoting public transit, electric vehicles, cycling infrastructure, and sustainable urban planning., and building more resilient, equitable, and environmentally sustainable cities in partner countries, aligning with the EU's strategic priorities and global commitments.
