Knowledge and research for nutrition

The Knowledge and Research for Nutrition project of the European Commission aims to provide improved knowledge and evidence for policy and programme design, management and monitoring and evaluation in order to reach better nutrition outcomes.

The project has established a Nutrition Research Facility that provides expert advice to the European Commission, the European Union, member states and partner countries. The facility pools expertise from European academia and has the ability to mobilise internationally renowned scientific networks and research organisations from partner countries.

Carefully planning, monitoring, evaluating and drawing lessons from actions designed to improve nutrition is of utmost importance to increase the efficiency and impact of such actions. In order to support sound monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of nutrition-related policies and programmes, the Nutrition Research Facility (NRF), supported by the European Commission, has developed a web portal that provides an overview of the main tools available for that purpose.
