Progress in ensuring the allocation of EUR 3.5 billion to nutrition
Total EU nutrition commitments in the period 2014-2020 amounted to over €4.3 billion and means that the EU’s target of committing €3.5 billion towards nutrition in the period 2014-2020 was surpassed by €835 million.
In 2021, the EU made a new pledge to commit further €2.5 billion to reduce all forms of malnutrition during the period 2021-2024.
Based on 2021-2022 data and preliminary data for 2023, the EU has already met its promise: commitments with a nutrition objective in the first three years alone amounted to €4.4 billion.
Of this total, €3.1 billion is development aid and €1.3 billion is humanitarian aid. This exceeds the 2021 pledge by €1.9 billion.

All figures are rounded. The 2023 data is preliminary, to be published by OECD DAC in January 2025.
