30-08 Energy Information System technical sessions
The first phase of dissemination of the ECOWAS Energy Information System (EIS) developed under the AGoSE-AO programme to Member States has recently concluded. Two separate workshops on Energy Statistics were conducted by the ECOWAS Directorate of Energy and Mines in collaboration with the ministries in charge of Energy of Guinea Bissau and of The Gambia. The one-day technical sessions dedicated to the collection of complementary data and capacity assessment that preceded both workshops were an opportunity to present the prospects for improving energy statistics at the national level through the development of the ECOWAS Energy Information System.
The topics discussed during both sessions were:
(1) the energy situation and trends within the ECOWAS region and of host country
(2) the findings from the quality assurance analysis of the energy statistics for the host country
(3) development of the web platform for information dissemination.
The session in Guinea Bissau took place on August 30th 2023 and the one in The Gambia on the September 1st 2023. Feedback received indicates that the workshops were highly valuable and well-received.
