Exercise: Identifying Positive and Negative Effects on Child Rights
A programme in Haiti aims to improve the quality and quantity of coffee produced by small holder farmers by improving production techniques, improving quality controls, replanting and regenerating trees, strengthening the management of farming cooperatives and producer organizations. The programme purpose is to increase the incomes of at least 10,000 smallholder farmers and to strengthen their food security.
Using the CRIA framework of three questions below, please describe three possible positive effects and three possible negative effects you foresee this programme potentially having on child rights and child well-being.

- to what extent is the programme likely to effect changes in the livelihoods and revenues of poor households?
- to what extent is the programme likely to effect changes in access to and quality of social services used by children?
- to what extent is the programme likely to effect changes in the social capital of poor households to protect the rights of their children?
