Introduction to Mainstreaming Child Rights in the Identification Phase

At this stage, child rights mainstreaming entails making children visible in policy and programme decision-making, to ensure that EC investments do "no harm" to children while promoting their best interests, rights and well-being. If an attention to child rights and well-being is not included in the Identification Phase, it will be more challenging and more costly to take corrective action for children down the line.

When you have finished this section, you will be familiar with:

  • Child rights mainstreaming in the key assessments required to ensure programme relevance and feasibility

  • How to involve children in programme identification and develop strategies to empower them as rights holders.

This chapter contains 23 slides and will take approximately 90-120 minutes to complete, including the concluding exercise.
