WATDEV: Climate Smart WATer Management and Sustainable DEVelopment for Food and Agriculture in East Africa
Objectives of the project:
The overarching objective of the project is to increase the sustainability of agricultural water management and resilience of agro-ecosystems to climate change in East Africa and Egypt. This will be achieved by two specific objectives: SO1. National Ministries and Research Institutions will be able to improve their knowledge and management on water in agriculture ; SO2. Farmers and local actors will implement innovative/sustainable solutions and skills on water management
Implementing organization: The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).
Localisation: Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya with study areas identified in each country.
Funding and co-funding:
DG International Partnerships (INTPA) of the European Union (EU) : € 7.499.897,00:
Parallel funding of 1.20 M Euro by AICS with the WATER KNOWLEDGE HUB.
Duration: 48 months (January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2026)
