WE4F: Water and Energy for Food
Objectives : to scale up climate-friendly, energy-efficient and water-efficient innovations by working closely with the private sector to increase the sustainability of agricultural food value chains and address environmental and climate resilience in developing countries and emerging markets – with a particular focus on the poor and women.
Implementing organization : Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
Localisation: East Africa, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia and Malawi
Funding and co-funding: The Multi Donor Action (12 Mio. EUR) is jointly co-financed by the European Union (6 Mio. EUR) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ, 6 Mio. EUR) as contribution to the international WE4F Initiative.
Duration: 3.5 years, January 2020 – June 2023
