Application of CRIA to a Transport Programme

Using the example of an investment in mass transport and road improvement, we will briefly examine likely channels of impact upon children against CRIA’s three questions.

The transport programme in question aims to improve transport infrastructure, increase private sector investment in the sector, improve regulation within mass transport and thereby increase access and safety while reducing transport costs for the public.

The analysis necessarily begins with an understanding of the mobility of women, men, girls and boys of different ages in a given area and their use of public transport. There are different patterns of mobility and different uses of transport for different segments of the population. How do these different mobility and transport use patterns have a bearing on child rights and well-being?
