Hue International conference among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries - September 2015
The 7th International conference on Public Health among Greater Mekong Sub-Regional Countries was held in Hue, Vietnam on 26th and 27th September 2015. The conference title was “International collaboration of public health training and research in evidence- based health policy making”, and it had following objectives:
- To share research results in the field of Public Health as well as in existing health problems among greater Mekong Sub-Regional countries;
- To search for feasible solutions to enhance international collaboration among Public Health Faculties in the Mekong Sub-Region, and a wider area of the Southeast Asian countries about training and research in Public Health to strengthen evidence based health policy in a globalization context.
Participants from three SPHIP projects in Asia (Bangladesh, Myanmar and Lao PDR) and the SPHIP-ST team leader participated in the conference.
The three projects and the SPHIP-ST organised a special session on support to public health institutes where over 50 persons from the conference participated. It was a good opportunity to share experiences and have discussions.
During the conference, areas of collaboration and exchange were identified such:
- Non-communicable diseases in both Bangladesh and Myanmar;
- Policy implementation assessment;
- Use of DHIS-2 software for monitoring;
- Capacity building of research staff.
