EU Programming
Since the start of COVID-19 and restrictions on travel, the PFD has adapted its ways of working to focus more on online consultations and greater inclusion. During the 2020-2022 period, virtual meetings focused on how PFD members could share their knowledge to increase the impact of EU programmes. This resulted in ongoing dialogue around regional programming that has taken place continuously since 2020. A series of regional consultations in 2020 resulted in PFD recommendations on the 2021-2027 EU programming cycle. You can read these recommendations here.

Asia and the Pacific
✅ September 2024 EU Regional Multi-Annual Indicative Programme for Asia and the Pacific (2021-2027) consultation to gather feedback and recommendations. The discussion included a plenary session for updates on the regional programme and thematic group discussions focusing Climate Change, Energy and Environment; Digital; Migration and Forced Displacement.

✅ March 2023 online consultation on the EU Regional Multi-Annual Indicative Programme (RMIP) for Asia and the Pacific (2021-27). The event brought together EU staff and 39 representatives from civil society organisations (CSOs) and local authorities (LAs) to collate feedback from CSOs and LAs on the Regional MIP and establish recommendations to maximise engagement.

Americas and the Caribbean
✅ September 2024 hybrid meeting where the EU provided an update on: 1) the follow-up to the 2023 EU-CELAC Summit and the 2023-2025 roadmap agreed by both regions; 2) the launch of the EU-LAC Global Gateway Investment Agenda; and (3) the implementation of the EU Multiannual Regional Indicative Programme (RMIP) for the Americas and the Caribbean (LAC) 2021-2027.

May 2021 Meeting on the EU Regional multi-annual indicative programme (RMIP) for the Americas and the Caribbean EN and ES
Sub-Saharan Africa
✅ November 2024 discussion on the implementation of the Regional Multi-Annual Indicative Programme for Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA MIP) to provide an update on the implementation of the SSA MIP and the next steps planned, share the feedback on the contributions that had been received from the previous PFD consultation meetings, and hear the views of CSOs and LAs on the Multi-Annual Action Plan 2025 (AAP 2025). The meeting was structured into two parts: a plenary session for updates on the SSA MIP, and breakout thematic group discussions focusing on: human development, youth, and culture; governance, peace and security, migration.
✅ January 2024 Consultative discussion on the EU regional multi-annual indicative programme (MRIP) for Sub-Saharan Africa. This meeting provided an update on RMIP implementation and feedback on the contributions received from the previous meetings; and invited the views of CSOs and ALAs on the Annual Action Plans for 2024 currently in the pipeline.
✅ April 2023 Consultative discussion on the EU regional multi-annual indicative programme (MRIP) for Sub-Saharan Africa. The meeting aimed to: 1) Provide an update of the programming process for the regional multi-annual programming for SSA; 2) provide feedback on the inputs from the previous meetings; and 3) hear the views of CSOs and ALAs on the Annual Action Plans (AAP) 2023, which are currently in the pipeline and under preparation.

✅ June 2022 Information session on EU regional programming for Sub-Saharan Africa (2021-2027) to update participants on regional programming progress, including the Annual Action Plan (AAP) for 2022 being prepared, and provide an opportunity for questions and contributions from CSOs and LAs. After a presentation of the AAP 2022, four thematic discussions took place, where additional information on the AAP 2022 was provided by INTPA staff.
